So, recently I was on Soundcloud checking my feed and noticed that Lee Green (Humble Beast) had favorited a couple tracks by this guy (who at the time, I was completely unfamiliar with) B.DURAZZO. Since, I really respect Lee Green as an artist, I thought I would check out what B.DURAZZO sounded like; in short, I was blown away.
“Benjamin Durazzo is a 23-year-old hip-hop producer in the Blockhead vein of hip-hop producers, who teaches middle school kids music when he’s not in front of his MPC.” – Patrick Taylor – RapReviews
After listening to his other tracks for about an hour, I decided to Google his name and see what popped up. To my pleasure, I saw that he had a Bandcamp set up AND had two free beat tapes available; Beats Vol 1 & Beats Vol 1 ½. Needless to say I downloaded those immediately, but as they were downloading I hit up YouTube as well.
“Not only was watching Ben play interesting, but the beat which he composes is pretty ill. The instrumental has a haunting quality reminiscent of RJD2′s earlier work and that classic boom-bap feel that really gets your head nodding.” – Joseph Goral – SockMonkeySound
What is this? Performing tracks from his beat tape on dual MPC’s? All DAY! Although we still have 6 months, this guy is quickly becoming one of my favorite finds this year.
I got a couple beat tapes for you guys to check out, both from producers outside the US. Politks dropped a dope tape that he sent to us a while back. This beat tape is really simple, but it’s still got that grimy boom bap feel to it. It’s free and if you like what you hear you can hit him up for beats at email@example.com
Secondly the homey Relic released a beat tape this week, to gear up for his new album “Miles To Go” that will be dropping this year. The beat tape is free too!
9th wonder breaking it down on beat making…
And a classic for yall…
I’ve known DJ Clutch for a minute and the homey has mad talent and worked with a slew of dope emcees, his catalog continues to grow and I’m pretty sure the homey is my age. So we decided to do y’all a favor and collaborate. If you buy a beat from DJ Clutch and tell him Last Lyricists sent you, he’ll give you another one for free! There’s no reason to sleep on this and just to prove it to you, Clutch cooked up a little beat tape for you just to so you know how dope he is. I’ll let him introduce himself a little further.
Beatmaker/producer Clutch has been creating beats since grade 6 in Altona, Manitoba, Canada. He treads the earth of Hamilton, ON now and since his humble beginnings has went on to work with the likes of Sev Statik, Sintax.the.terrific, Sivion, Freddie Bruno, Ill Seer, Fresh IE, reSEARCH, Cas Metah, Wonder Brown, Paradox, Ruffian, NomiS, Afaar, and a grip of other great artists.
He participated in beats and rhymes to Cram 7 with the Cram Session collective.
Along side The Runaway, Crisis, & Qu-C he is a part of the Custodians.
He’s obsessed with drum breaks, vinyl, and delayed synth sounds. The average day ends with 3 new beats, though it’s not uncommon to find 5 hitting the shared dropbox folders. Many for top secret projects that will only be mentioned when the hip hop community really needs a lift in spirit.
Clutch and Last Lyricists would like to offer a deal to all those who skimmed through that mess of promotion:
Buy one get one free with a mention that the Last Lyricists sent you.
Make sure you hit him up, but as a test drive, download the beat tape.
Muneshine, first time I heard the guy was when we was part of Lightheaded and his beats were so unique and had more jazz influence than most. Then I got “A Walk In A Park” which in my eyes is one of the best beat tapes ever. So now here we are and the Canadian producer/emcee is working on a new album AND he just released a beat tape that I received last week that has some dope beats on it. Download the tape for free below and peep one of the beats on the tape right here!

The homey LAKIM coming off his LP release called “Elevate” dropped a little something in honor of Dilla month. I present to you “Snow Mittens”.
For those who don’t know PumpkinFoot is a producer out of Ohio, who produced Wonder Brown’s “The Gallows” and from what I’ve heard the producer is working on a lot of projects with some big names. For right now though get acquainted with PumpkinFoot’s skills and listen to “Questions IV” which is the first three “Questions” beat tapes combined into one.
LAKIM is a producer out of Virginia and this producer has next. He worked with Ohio emcee Jean P on the project “Opposites Attract”. He’s released numerous beat tapes and instrumental projects. And his newest project “Elevate” just came out and it’s the perfect name for this project. It’s a different sound then we’re used to from LAKIM, but he still has that signature sound. You can download the project for free and then your other option is if you donate $5 you’ll get some bonus tracks and some alternate art cover.
